best driving lights?

just wanting some opinions on the driving lights, im looking at a set of narva taurus lights anybody got any experience with them? or other reckomendations i am an apprenctice so keep cost in mind

but if u want cheap but still good - go for the NANE spotlights.

I have 3 sets, the 7100's are as good as Rallye 2000's and 1/2 price.
got mine for 140 set/2

If you want cheap - just get a set of Narva ultima 175 combos.
You should be able to pick them up for about $130 in a kit including pair of lights and relay etc.

If you want good - GO THE FORCE!!!

ive got tauras bulls and one thing to keep in mind is that thay are huge. Much deeoper than the rallaye 4000 or the lightforce, plus if you buy them you will need to buy a mounting post aswell, but i have not had any dramas with them at all.

before you waste money on driving lights, consider upgrading the wiring and specification of your headlights - if you have sealed beams, ditch them for some semi-sealed beams with 130/90w high/low beam halogen globes and heavy duty wiring and relays - bypassing the high current from the stalk switches. you might find that driving lights are not necessary, and leave the vehicle looking tidier. it's also an upgrade you can do in stages so oyu don't have to pay a lot up front - do the wiring first and it will improve the performance of even the worst stocker headlights, then get the halogens when you've got some more $.

I've got the Narva Ultima 175 Blue's on and they are pretty good for the price. A very white clean light. And a good price

i disagree, i've got both, a set of xgt's & a set of hella rig 200's & yes the lightforces are brighter just that little bit, but $$$ wise the rig lights are better

I think they meant Hella Predator, I've never heard of a Hella Luminator before.

A mate of mine has a set of these, spent $6k on lights, upgrades and 2 lighs.....they are insanly bright, blind you in the day time

as good as they are, bang for buck the XGTs are very good IMO

I have a pair of lightforce 170's which are pretty good. The only problem is they have too much glare from the back of them so they arn't any good for mounting on top of your bullbar. I then bought a set of Hella ralley 4000 and man, these lights are shit hot. You can't compare the two and I would say they would be the next best thing to HID's. The only bad point is the weight of the Hella compared to the lightforce.

I have Lightforce 240s on top of my bullbar, I just wrapped some black tape around the edge of the cover to stop the glare.

i do alot of running through bush and my gear gets worked pretty hard i was in repco one day and seen ziel lights, pencil and wide spread. they have an awsome cover on the front for the hard hits and are detchable i now have 4 of these on my roll bar on my hj75 and they are fine for what im doing and your only paying roughly $80-$120 a light. good luck happy hunting.

I have IPFs, they're pretty good, I just replaced my old IPF loom with a home made one as it was a bit farked.

Currently building an upgrade loom for the headlights and gonna run 90/130W globes in Crystal beam semi-sealed beams.

The combination should be awesome.

I was pricing the bits and pieces for a new loom.
Found a wiring kit in the audio section of Supercheap for $10
Inc 5m of 6mm wire, 30amp relay and inline fuse holder
Fuses, connectors the works.
I got 2 for the highs and spots and used 20amp wire and relay for the lows.

Whole setup with some shrink tube < $50

$110 on Ebay

Ive had my Hella 4000s on the GU for nearly 6 years now.
Lots of outback travel and they are still as solid as new.

Awesome light output and, unlike LF240s, they fit within the bullbar profile.

i would agree with you there.

i run 4 rally 4000's 2 spot and 2 spread, great light output, not that badly priced, glass lense so no distortion with heat although they can get smashed but hey they still make them...

light force are a very good light too but i don't like there profile. and they look very flimsy..

Have a set of new IPF ex90? anyway they are seriously bright. Had a cheeparse set of night stalker from super cheep the lens' relfectors and bulbs are somewhere between Kalpowar Crossing and Hann Crossing in Lakefield National Park the cases are at the dump in Townsville. My mates Hella Ralley 2000s also started to fall apart on the same trip.

I agree the Lightforces look flimsey in their mountings, but mine have been clouted by many a tree branch and are still fine. The worst that happens to my 240s mount on top of the bullbar is that they get pushed back but it doesn't damage them at all.

another option to talk about, can't remeber the issue, earlier in the year 4wd Mthly did a comparrison test.

The Cibie Oscar SC came out on top for lighting up the skippys on the side of road(cornering lense), they have a driving lense and a cornering lense in this version, the driving boasts 1 Lux at 620m with a 30m spread and the cornering 240m and 75m spread.

I converted to one of each of these a while back and man what an improvement on the standard Oscars. I wouldn't do without the cornering Lamp at all anymore, it really gives a fantastic spread beam. definitly see what's coming at you from the sides.

Best thing is they are small but still do the same job as the larger ones.

They reckon they have the same output as the Cibie Turini versions which are much larger and would require me to modify my bullbar to fit them in
