Leaking transfer seal

Post by hudson44 »

I have a leak from the front transfer case seal. (Where the front drive shaft goes in) I popped a new seal in it yesterday at a cost of $6. No big deal..... you would think!!!

Today it's leaking again!!! When i had it on the hoist i noticed that all 3 front diff mounts were broken, im assuming the've gone since i put the 32" muddies on her. From what i can gather the diff is moving back due to the broken mounts and forcing the drive shaft into the transfer case and stuffing the seal.

My question is.... has anyone else encountered this problem??? I'm going to replace the mounts anyway (what a mission) however i was just wondering if anyone had done this repair or have any ideas on the subject?

cheers in advance

I replaced my front diff mounts a few months ago yes it was a big job. Do a search Frank gave me the kelpro part numbers they cost around $30.00 each genuine $90.00. Take the brackets off and the new mounts to Pedders at Burleigh and they can press them out and new ones in, cost me about $40.00. Not really a hard job just time consuming if you like you can give me a call on 0418688074 I also live on the Gold Coast.
