hey guys
so iv persisted with it for a while, actually i couldnt be bothered looking or fixing it, but yeh, i put a new cd player in the paj when i got it, and i simply cut the harness off the old cd player and wired up the new, but i was left with a few left overs. Iv read all the threads from here and pajeroclub but still havent really got anything, i wired up the four speakers, earth, power and acc power, and was left over with a few, my question is why are these lights not working anymore:
- the circle light around the the ignition barrel
- the interior light
- half of the lights around the aircon dash bit
its a 94 NJ shorty 3L V6 if that helps, i checked all fuses todayand theyre all fine so is there a reason that these lights are connected with the stock head unit or another reaosn whyt heyre working???
thanks heaps
dean

Did you make your own earth. I have installed a head unit in my brothers Terranno and used the park light wire as the earth by mistake. This kept blowing the dash and park light fuse. It does'nt hurt to earth the earth wire to a screw on the body just in case, as some wires can "pretend" to be eatrhs!
Good Luck

hey hudson
howd u go mate, u done ur bodylift yet??? let me know how it went and any problems if u did, i keep reading and saying one day im gonna do it, but i got the ally bar in the garage for the lift, all up the materials cost me $0 but yeh now i just gotta do it
as far as the earth, yeh iv read it elsewhere i think on pajeroclub that ppl have used the wrong wires as an earth, but nah, the harness from the new head unit had an earth from the harness and no wires from the previous harness were used as an earth, i might have a look but when i got time and its not raining, and see what coloured wires are left over from the old harness, mayeb that might make things easier
cheers

No mate havent done it yet. Have'nt had the time or money to do it. Gotta chuck a set of front diff bushes in her this weekend which has set me back. Think i broke them with the new 32's and the loads of hell i gave her the other weekend. Must say i'm loving the muddies tho mate!!! Not quite sure if i'm gunna do the body lift yet. Saving up for 2" springs for the arse and see how she sits after that... and besides, if i go too much higher the thing won't fit in the garage and i'll have to find a "How to modify your garage door" forum
Anyway mate, back on the subject... On the original radio there is wiring for the inbuilt park lights. The stereo may be wired into that particular group of lights in series so when you have cut the lume you've broken the series. I would get a test light and find which wire has power with the lights turned on. Shed the ends off the left over wires and touch them one at a time on the power wire.... when the dash lights start working again you've found your two wires!!! Join them together and 'Bobs ya mums brother'
See how you go anyway... the worst you can do is blow a fuse!!

Evening Twinnie.
Most late model cd players have a full time power on wire which is used to keep all the settings and the clock functioning. They then use an accessory switched wire to turn on the player. A quick check with a test light should sort it out.
Hey Klrevo.
Sounds a bit strange to me. You haven't accidently snagged a wire for the heater lights or something similar. There's a fair few wires in there and most late model cd players are sharp bastards. Your usually doing pretty well to fit one and not cut yourself.
