Does Vitara P/S box have an oil seal at the bottom?

Post by Impulsive »

Hi guys,

As the title says, I was wondering if the Vitara power steering box has a lower oil seal (on the pitman arm output shaft) and whether anyone has a part number for it and/or somewhere to get it in sydney?

Mine is leaking and I wanna fix it asap.

Thanks in anticipation.

Oil Seal

Post by Impulsive »

Thanks dude,

According to the local Suzuki dealership, no such part exists, which, given it contains a rather runny fluid, I find hard to believe.

I look forward to your reply and thank you in anticipation of your info.

Hehe, that leak is stock mate. The fluid in it is normal automatic gear oil :)

awesome somebody else with the same problem!!!

mine is leaking also.

and i have asked many places and said the same thing that suzki dont make the seal parts anymore. and that i will have to replace the hole box.

the wreckers said i could get one for $200+

but then the real joke was from a suzuki dealership/service qouteing . brand new $2,999 ( that is exactly the figure)

the guy aggreed saying thats radiculus and put an addititive in there to try and expand the seal.

Vitara box seals

Post by Impulsive »

I spoke to my local bearings place guy, and he said that if I removed the seal and brought it to him, that he could measure it up and get me one at the appropriate size.

Unfortunately, that may mean the car is off the road for a few days.

My suggestion, whilst we wait for mud4b to reply is that this may be a viable option for us to consider.

My local place is called CNC bearings I think.
