Engine lift

Anybody ever try to made a engine and tranny lift?

Recently I put a 2" body lift to my Patrol and now I was thinking of makeing a engine and tranny lift, but I'm not sure if it's save.
I was thinking of just a 1" or 1 1/2" lift, to make a flat surface under the frame.

What do you guys think? :?

Aren't you better off keeping the COG as low as you can?

Buger,
I have a mate with a "90" SR5 Hilux who did an Engine / Transmission lift after doing a 2" Body Lift. He was specifically trying to gain extra clearance under the Transmission/Transfer Case as the Hilux has a very low "Pressed Steel" Transmission Cross Member.

He made up a Crossmember out of 12mm Flat Plate stepped up at either end to bolt to the Chassis. The new crossmember gained him heaps of ground clearance and also is the perfect place to mount a Bash Plate for the Transfer Case.

For the Engine he made up Plate Steel ( 12mm again from memory ) Brackets which mount to the standard Chassis Rail locations and still allow the use of the Standard Toyota Rubber Engine Mounts.

All up a 2" lift which brought the Engine back up to its original height in the Bay and stopped any problems with Fan Shroud / Fan Blade clearance ect.

Big job but well worth the effort.

if it is your sump that your woried about you could allways run a dry sump set up and keep the C.O.G as low as posible
