help removing 75series front speakers

Post by mlowe76 »

Hi Guys,

I am going to replace my front speakers in my 70series (middy to be precise)

I've had a brief look - and can't see an easy way to access them.

Do I have to take the whole dash off? does anyone know?

Thanks
matthew

You only have to take out about 6 screws in the dash to pull out the speedo housing ( it has retaining clips on the back near the windscreen, just pry it up gently). You can the access the speaker nuts on the d/s speaker. On the left take out the vent above it and undo the the speaker.

before you pull the speedo housing out reach down to the left of the clutch pedal and pull the speedo cable out of the clip on the transmission tunnel to make it heaps easier to undo the speedo cable from the back of the housing. should be 6 screws holding the housing like ten4 said, 2 each side of the steering wheel and 2 in the housing just above the speedo and tach, dont worry about the 3 at the very front of the housing at the top dont need to take them out. If you cant get your hand in through the vent take the plastic liner out of the glove box should be 6 screws holding it in 4 on the top (2 of which hold the latch on) and 2 on the bottom.
If at first you dont succeed.......get a bigger HAMMER!!!
