We have found the AXT Turbo a reliable and tuff turbo. It will increase your power from 86kw at the flywheel to 130kw.
We can also make custom intercoolers to suit. Ours are generally mounted at the front behind the grill and are about twice the size of a Safari Intercooler.

Another option is a Dynamic turbo, well put togethor, kit comes complete with intercooler if you order it of course. Also pushes out heaps of power. No matter which turbo you fit make sure you fit a 3 inch exhaust to the system and make sure the pipe coming out of the turbo is 3inch aswell, sometimes they are smaller.
Joe.
To succeed, focus on the solution, not the problem.

The inlaws have got a 4.2 diesel GQ with a Safari kit (non intercooled). The conversion is top notch and uses a Garrett turbo, which have a very good reputation for holding together. The power increase is unbelievable and it's regularly used to tow a 16 ft pop top van, plus has drawers, bull bar, winch, auxilary fuel tank , water tank, compressor, exhaust brake etc etc..... The only negative side to the conversion is it runs a bit hot towing the caravan up the new freeway going out of Adelaide- but could just be his radiator needing repairing.
He had the diesel injection side of it modified by Berrimah diesel to suit the turbo.

my mate just bought a 98 gq ute with one of these kits on it (non-intercooled) and the thing absolutely hauls ass...plus its got a cool turbo whoosh sound
My mate was running a schwitzer turbo on his diesel GQ ute and @ 12 psi he claimed it was putting out 250hp.
I think it had hi-flow injectors and 3 inch exhaust
non intercooled and was one of the best sounding turbo diesels around

Its a claim... mine has a schwitzer turbo 11psi 2.5 exhaust, and dont think its close to that......
i am running a DTS turbo and intercooler on a GU TD4.2 @ about 14 psi, i am putting down to the ground 113KW and 4500Nm, so at around 40-45% loss from fly wheel to ground you are looking at about 160-170KW at the flywheel.
i have used these systems on GQ TD4.2 and gotten around 80 KW and 3000Nm out of them @ 11psi with out a boost compensator.
these are a good kit and work well right through the rev range, i have not had any problems with them.
AXT are pretty good and good to deal with, nice guys, but DTS is a nation wide company so no matter where you are you can get stuff sorted with out a drama,
JUST DONT GO TO SAFARI if you do you will be able to work why ARB dont stock their Turbos any more

Just so you know AXT also have support nation-wide, so you shouldn't have any problems with them either.
