So what are the older IFS hiluxs being recalled for?

So what are the older IFS hiluxs being recalled for?
All the Luxs with IFS up to 97(i think) are being recalled.
I heard it is something to do with the steering.
I wonder what the Stealership would think of mine Bent tie rod, no steering stabiliser, crack in chassi around one of box mount bolts.
Doesnt worry me I will be going solid front... One day.

Beauty is that the rod in the middle of the steering setup that the two outer rods join to?pongo wrote:The end snaps off the end of the steering relay rod. I guess we can sue them now becasue they finally admitted that hilux's are breakable.

May as well get a new one even if I am chopping it out in a few months.

Japanese Recall
Toyota to recall 340,000 vehiclesAFP, TOKYOOct 26: Japan's largest carmaker Toyota Motor Corp. said on Tuesday it will recall more than 330,000 cars and 9,000 small trucks in Japan to exchange defective steering parts. The carmaker will recall 330,496 wagons of five models, including the Hilux Surf, produced between 1988 and 1996 in Japan, Toyota said in a report submitted to the transport ministry. It will also recall 9,141 small trucks-the Light Ace and Town Ace- produced between July last year and June this year. The company said it would change defective steering parts, which can get broken if the driver turns the wheel too many times while the car is parked. The trouble may cause the driver to loose control, according to the report. Toyota said it also shipped some 40,000 of the troubled Hilux model to Australia but has no plans to recall them "because driving and parking conditions are different" in Australia.
