Hi guys, just a stupid quick question that i cant find that answer to any where.
How do you remove the fiberflass hardtop on a MK shorty? do you remove all the interior trim on the hard top and then unbolt it, or what?
cheers

MK Hardtop removal
It`s really easy.Just undo all the bolts that connect the flat part of the canopy to the body(i think there is about 20 or so).The only one`s i had problems with were the one`s in the top corners. I had to give them all good soak first with WD 40. This enabled me to get 95 percent of them. The others i got a grinder and CAREFULLY ground the heads of them. When the canopy then came off I CAREFULLY put some heat on them and presto! out they came.

you dont need to undo anything else to get at this bolts...
they are a small allen key looking bolt called a Torx head ( little star shaped socket undoes them )
if you hop in the back of your shorty they are running along the top edge and side edges just below the side windows, they bolt into the top of the well back, they are captive nuts so just undo them.

There are 20 bolts (or there were on mine when I removed it last week)
I replaced the torx with std hex head bolts they are less likely to strip and once done you don't have to find the torx bit every time you want to take the back off.
A couple of the torx stripped when removing mine so I ground the heads off with a grinder

Dude who I bought my MQ off replaced the original bolts with just 5 hex head bolts - front and back of the sides and one for the middle of the top. Takes about 3.5 minutes to get the canopy off. You shouldn't have any trouble - I think you're looking too hard. The bolts should be visible on the vertical bit behind the main cabin on the roof, and on the flat horizontal shelf around the edge of the canopy, just below the sliding side windows.

yeah, take all the interior lining of and it will reveal a series of bolts to undo
To those that so not know, some came out with metal canopies, like my new one and they were top of model ones & had lining throughout the canopy
