Losing power after water crossing

Post by KIWI »

My GQ (TD42) loses power and blows black smoke after water crossings (about wheel height). Comes right after about 10mins.

Any idea what could be causing this?

whats the inside of the aircleaner box looking like. I rekon you have a leak. Even with a snorkle fitted they can leak mine did. Managed to fill the main aircleaner up with alot of water. Buggered how it didnt crap itself.

If it looks like there has been ditry water in there, buy some hitemp sealeant and wipe it every whare. especially around where the plastic inlet hose joins the metal houseing.

Looks like the problem may be the old TPS I disconnected.
Water may be getting into the plug causing it to short out and close the butterfly in the intake.
