255/70 15R - this is an oddball size works out to be about 29x10x15.
You could however buy this truck new with an "offroad" wheel pack giving you 31x10.5x15.
205R16 is specified to be an overall diametre of 747mm which is 29.88"
your allowed to go 1" bigger, and most 31's are actually closer to 30" in diametre which is why you can legally run 31's.
the 205R16LT actually has a section width of 203mm which when adding your allowable 50% increase with beam axles, means you can run 304.5mm wide tyres, or 12.18" wide tyres.
if you have IFS you can go 30% increase in tyre width to 10.56"
this is based on Queensland regulations and the Tyre and Rim Association Manual (2002)
255/70/R15 has a specified overall diametre of 739mm (29.56") which means you can run 765mm (30.6") tyres, again which most 31" tyres will actually measure.
255/70/R15 has a section width of 260mm (10.4") so you can go to a 390mm (15.6") wide tyre with beam axles, or with IFS you can go to 338mm (13.52").
I dont think ive ever heard of a 31x15.5 tyre before though lol
last time i looked in the dep.off trans they said 15mm bigger then not 1inch. lux can go 31 and cruisers only to 32 legal but i dont think to meny coppers worry about 10mm well ihope not.
