tryed to get air

Post by batshiz »

Well tried to get my rocky to go air born but it didnt work mom didnt get the pic taken in time! Had both front wheels off the ground coming out of the ditch and she got it as i was landing! still front passenger side was up about an inch or so when she got the pic! could probaly get all four but it would be dangerous and im not into that im into having fun!The bank is at a angle so it is hard to get both front wheels to hit at same time! Will try to get some mud picks today i will post them here as well! Going to do some serious mudding next weekend though pics to come!

Had my Sportrak (aka Feroza aka Rocky) airbourne whilst off roading
in the Peak District in England (yes we do have hills!) a few weeks ago.
We topped a rocky ascent and I accelerated after it levelled off, hit a dip
and a small ridge and got about 6 inches of daylight under the wheels according to my buddy following behind. The best bit was coming out of my seat! :D

batshiz,

I've been working on getting ready for the transmission swap and playing around with the ARB's. Did you keep the donor truck? What year was it? `85 was the last year for a solid axle Toy in the US. That's the best one also as it has the most gussets. You're not going to get 40" boggers on there without them :D

no i let the 83 part truck go as i didnt have the money to fix the solid axle on and my brother was moving so had to give it away but i guess when i get a job i will have to buy some axles and get that damn snorkle made lol! I almost drownded it out yesturday it splashed up a little bit! Glad to hear u got the thirds and every thing wish i could be as lucky as u! Hey pigdog sounds a little bad on ur part air is cool as long as u land on wheels only! Should have more picys up sunday if it dont rain are mud run out! Btw kent what kind of adapter did u use for ur springs in front u know to mount them to the frame cuz front is little smaller than the back for width! The center coil spring looks cool for the saggy springs ! LOL

batshiz,

After the IFS was removed a hole was drilled in the end of each frame rail. A piece of tubing was offset and welded in. Since the frame does taper towards the front an aluminum spacer was made for the shackle hanger. The rear spring hanger was welded to the frame. This worked OK as a spring under front shackle and I drove it like that for years. I think that I was using Wrangler 2" over leaf paks.

Hmmm....can't seem to upload piccies:

No luck involved. I am 51 years old, divorced, I have a daughter that is a senior in college (still send child support to her even though I don't have to), I don't own a home and rent a dumpy little apartment, I haven't any bills or credit cards and eat a lot of frozen burritos and pizza's. The Rocky is the only thing that I own that is worth anything. I've put quite a lot of money into it and a lot of time. Even though I am not much of a mechanic it keeps my mind occupied so that I don't make another suicide attempt...genetic biochemical imbalance and not taking medication. I have type 2 diabetes also. I'm pretty screwed up but I have a fairly nice little truck :D
