In japan, both 3 door, and 5 door versions of the prado were made. In Australia, only the 5 door versions were sold by toyota.

Any 3 door versions have been imported under the 'low volume import' scheme, or '15 yr old - classic' scheme. (Like the Surfs that are around).

As far as I know, neither of these can be imported much anymore - govt changed the import rules.

If you find one, and want it, do some research for things like parts availability
and insurance. Often parts are available, but for other models sold in australia. eg: Suf motor was used in hilux, body components from forerunner, etc). Also, many insurance companies won't insure so called 'grey imports', or will make you pay heavily for the pleasure.

Good hunting.

Hello from NZ
I just picked up a mint SWB 94 3lt sx Prado with 70k three months ago.
Have seen almost none since, very rare.
Great machines perform very well. THrough you in the seat!!
I just modified mine with a 50mm lift and a modified defender bumper bar, with original bull bar. Now its the Beast
Would recomend if you see one GET IT !!!
Trouble is i have seen bugger all for sale
Cheers
