Looking to install 2" extended rear shackles on my MQ, but not too keen on fussing around making them (don't have an oxy). Can anyone recommend any options for buying them?
Also considered running Superior Engineering's drop shackle things on the rear only. I believe I'd have to weld a new front shackle mount to fit them. Does anyone know if this will work? I also don't want to loose any wheelbase (increasing it would be preferable!).

i run superior engineering extended shackles front and rear, excelent shackle almost indistructable if you want a pair i know the only victorian supplier for them if you are interested call Dave at Playtime 4x4 on 0414394062 tell him brad sent you he will look after you.

Nissan Patrols shackles bolt straight on GQ. MQ Nissan the shakles fit on the front with no modifications and the rear needs a mount welded under the chasis. MK Nissan's need rear shackle mounts welded under the chasis, this is the same for front and rear. GQ nissans do not need any modifications.
unsure whether u own mq/k so yeh.
the drop shackles that pivot work well on heavier diffs. will runs extendeds
on front and droppies on the rear of his 60 which had some awesome flex.
its the white 60 on his website.

With a short wheelbase like the SWB patrols have, i personally dont reccomend them, they unload easily and on big down hills you have to worrk too much about the back of the car overtaking the bonner 
2 inch extended shakles for MQ/Mk you will struggle to buy, that have to be made or bought second hand from somehow who has made them... because they need a large step up as the mounts are within the chassis.
You can make some 2 inch longer than standard rears that are straight, and get your hands on a pair of from MQ hanger mounts and weld them on the bottom of the chassis about 1.5 inches forward from the existing bolt hole in the chassis and you will gain extra flex and lift.
i run 3/4 buggy leave in the rear of mine, and its far more stable and the top leave unloads last, whereas with superior shackles, the shackle unloads before the leave so its very bobby and unstable.
my own personal oppinion is that superioir or any climax type drop shackle, are a cheap way to get extra flex that will benefit you on a ramp and maybe wombat holes but be a hinderance any where else.
If you are indeed serious on running them, they should be run in either a light rig ( zook ) or a very long wheelbase rig.

I ran 2" longer on my SWB MQ, They were 10mm thick and gave a bit more room for the tyres. However when one ripped of the chassis about 100km from home I quickly got over them.
Up tp you what you wan to do, personally if you fit them open up the keepers on your leaves and possibly take a few out. The front will flex up nicely but the chance of them ripping of is more likely. This can be fixxed however with a couple of welds run over the mounting surface once cleaned up.

Revisiting this sucker as I still haven't decided what to do. At this stage I'm leaving the drop shackles alone for their unknowns and to save too much bother with breathers, brake lines, shock mounts and shocks. Instead, I plan to just go with 2" extended shackles front and rear.
I have 4 lots of 10x40x149 steel that is just rocking around in the centre console for months now. That was going to go on the front. For the rear, I was thinking of getting something a bit longer, and bending it like so.

One problem is that I imagine my propane burner, and trusty claw hammer, are going to be a little outclassed by suitable shackle material. Can anyone confirm? I also hope to make the rears a bit longer than the fronts, because with all the gear I usually carry in the back, it tends to sit a good inch or so low. Does this sound reasonable?
