IFS Crown Wheel Breakage under Warranty???

Post by V6XtraHilux »

Hey guys,
Replaced my front diff oil yesterday and found these little beauties hiding inside!!

I hear that IFS diffs tend to break these teeth alot! Crown wheel undoubtably.

ANybody think I can get the diff repaired under the Toyota factory Warranty?? Its still got 30,000Kms to go before its up.

ANy ideas would be appreciated.
Cheers

Cant upload the pic, so heres the link to the pic of the broken teeth.....http://www.spin.net.au/~runningman/4WD/Teeth/Teeth

Take it back for warranty for sure!
Have you done any mods to the vehicle?
Bigger tyres etc?
Because they will probably use them as an excuse for not paying to replace it.

truck has:
bodylift shouldnt be a prob for warranty on diff
33s......big prob with warranty (but am looking for 31s to run when I take it in for the warranty claim....anybody got some tyres and rims I can HIRE for 2 weeks???)
ARB bullbar....shouldnt be a prob, but you know Toyota, anything can be used as an excuse!

but the rest is pretty much stock in regards to the front drive area.

 Depends how good you've been with servicing at Toyota. You might get it you might not. The fact that you're trying to scam them by changing tyres makes your phrase above sound like the pot calling the kettle black IMO.

Actually, before I got the 33s, I ran 30s with the 50mm body lift, and with the All terrains and the type of gluggy mud i was getting in the Jenolans, the tyres were well and truly chockers in the wheelwell and up against the mudflaps. If it wasnt for the body lift most of the time, i couldnt of cleaned out the mud off the tyres!!

Now with the mud terrains I dont have that problem.

As with the scamming Toyota, I dont know about that, Ive heard that the front IFS diffs dont handle the distance with stock standard tyre sizes either. Im just not going to give them ANOTHER reason to scam me out of a warranty deal. I have never driven the Lux hard off road, too many panels to prang and too good a duco to stuff up, so I cant say Ive been flogging the crap out of it off road!
