lowering blocks

Can the lowering blocks you see in Autobarn instead be used to raise the rear on a hilux? Do I have to get the Hilux blocks or should any be ok?

If I have IFS rears (unmodified pack) with 200mm Shackles running a 2.8D turbo and use the blocks will I get axle wrap and need a tracbar or should it be ok?

I dont see why you cant use the lowering blocks, although you may need to get some different u-bolts....not 100% sure though.

I would definitely get a tracbar.

I've seen them run on a number of hiluxs without a tracbar, you should be alright

I dont have a trac bar, but climbing loose hills is not easy when the rear end just bounces around. A trac bar would fix this.

Im looking at getting one from Superior.

build them... some thick wall square tube, some flat welded on the ends, a hole in one side to locate the spring, and a round headed allen key type bolt though the other side to go into your spring perch done...

You dont think the holow tube will crush over time with the weight of the vehicle on it?

Have you done this before Slayer?

I was going to get the Auto Barn ones but the Superior ones are not that much more and they are made for a hilux with pinion angle correction.

I would fit a track bar as well. I wrapped my springs first trip out with the lift blocks.

What sort of spring pack did you have? i havent removed any leafs at this stage...

It was a 3inch lift pack with leaves removed. What spring pack are you putting in??

If you can weld and grind and have half a brain then just make a trac bar, it will cost you a weekend and $100, not only will it save your springs but it will limit hop quite a bit as well, there is a write up on how to do it on here. If you want to add blocks just because the u-bolts are too long then just cut them shorter, i had the same dilemma when putting the flip kit in mine (i am running 2 less leaves as well), if need be fab up a spacer from flat bar i made one by welding together 12mm and 6mm bar to get a 18mm spacer (2 leaves thick) plus i made up from 18 x 6 (could be 16 x 6 cant recall off the top of my head) flat bar 2 "retainers" to hold the bump stop on top of the u bolt flip plate, with a spring washer on each thread then chopped off the excess leaving 25mm of thread sticking out. I only made up the spacer under the springs to even it up with the front. If your running the full pack though you shouldnt need a spacer. I have a pic of how i did mine but im getting upload errors ....

nar, just use nice thick wall man.. i got roctoys old ones from his hilux.. they never failed on him and he drove harder than the average person.
