Roof mounted driving lights
For those of you running more than 2 roof lights, how do you have them wired? In pairs or all together and why?

Nah, only running the 4 lights on the bullbar although i was tempted to replace the 2 small Hellas with my pair of 240s for the night and run 4 240s
Main reason was I just curious...

I run them in pairs
Short range is with the standard high beam
The centre pair is a slightly longer focus spot ahead of high beam [ pencil ]
The outer pair are set further again [spread ]
I have 3 basic 'footprints' of light and when all are on it is one long patch of light on the road
The roll bar mounted spots can be operated with the ignition off

Do you guys actually PLAN to go off roading at night ?
I have never planned to but for example on one trip I left at 7am and said to my girlfriend I would be back by 3pm. I got back at 10am on Monday morning 27 hrs later . I got stuck in a box valley and the river which was just under a metre rose to nearly 4m, it then took us 10hrs to go 3kms [ bloody Landrovers I was with , too heavy and no lockers ].
Of course JavaBabe didn't believe me and ended up sniffing my crotch to try and smell if I'd been with another woman ! ! ! She had to be joking - I was covered in mud ! ... she ain't my girlfriend anymore .
This was the road BEFORE it rained !
Some Pics of Major Thom's Camel
No spotties then - made life tough !

If Tom could go all night on a glass of milk,
Imagine what I can do after a bottle of rum!!

I run on my front bar 2 KC hilight copies that were about $35 each which I piffed the lenses and put in 150watt aircraft landing light sealed beams at $16 each. Got sick of breaking lenses and globes blowing. Best lights ive ever had and about $110 for the two with a relay for each and heavy amp wire. Worth an idea for somebody looking for high output cheap lights. When you blow a globe, you get a new lens as well for not much more than a 130watt globe.

Andrew where did you get the aircraft sealed beams from ?

Hey TOM, hows the Traction Control coming along!
With aircraft landing lights from light aircraft such as Cessna's we used to use the lights on approach and depending on the situation with other traffic switch them off just before touch down - I have lost count of the number of landing lights I have seen blown just after landing - they are a real piece of crap - use something built for off roading

Obviously you havnt had two good sets of lights pinched of your car- one set with the security locks. $3-400 for a set of lights just to get them pinched or crack a lense when hot in a puddle is just crazy on a budget 4x4. If you race, different story- go with the best. My lights are the best ive had and ive had IPFs and Hellas. (Probably because I care heaps less about them than the others)
