60 Series Bull Bar

Post by vSAHARAx »

G'day all
Just wondering who in brizzy makes/sells decent looking winch bars. I could go search from shop to shop but thought it would be easier if ppl could lead me where to look. Better yet if u have a 60 with a winch bar and feel like posting pics ide love ya even more :P

Cheers in advance

Yeah I wouldn't mind seeing some pics. I'm in the market for one too, there's some i like and some I dont. If I can get a 2nd hand arb winch bar that looks ok for roughly $150 I'll be happy.

That bar looks damn fine mate...

Yeah, wouldnt mind a winch bar and pto for mine aswell... $500 you can really go wrong. PTO will pull your 60 up and down hills all day...

Im just painting up my alloy bar standard bar at the moment. Looks a million bucks and ive only got the grey etch primer on so far...

What are the pros and cons of both Electric Vs PTO winches??? how hard is it to install a PTO winch cause dont u have the other gear stick and all??? Does ARB still make winch bars for the 60? Family friend just bought an opposite lock franchise will ask if they can still get winch bars and for how much.

A pto winch will winch all day as long as the motor is running.....so if you get stuck and the engine wont go you cant winch. Fitting one is pretty easy all we had to do was mount the bar (couple of bolts) and remove the pto cover from the transfer check the gear was there and mount it then cut some holes in the floor for the shifter and connected the driveshaft. Electric winches usually require a second battery and maybe a bigger alternator they usually have a duty cycle so they wont winch all day but as long as you have charged batteries they will pull. Have a bit of a browse through the book of winches http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/PHP_Modul ... p?p=591816
it has heaps more info about all the different brands and different types

Pretty sure any bar made for a 75/78/79 series will fit a 60.... ARB makes bars for 60 series, try ringing them up, or order free catalogues for ARB/TJM/OL online :)
Cheers,
Dan.

TJM have done a run of their type 13 budget bar.

I got one for my 60 about 6 months ago and have 8000LB Ramsey doing the work ok.

I tried to find a good 2nd hand one but they are like hens teath and what I could find were damaged and or expensive.

Not without a fair bit of modification. The chassis width is totally different.

actually now that i look at it my bar is more like this one, except mine isnt a winch bar.

The outer bars bend out a bit then up, not straight up as in the pic above.

Mine doesnt have the indicators in the bar either, but the late model 60 has a very large indicator directly under the headlights anyway (clearly visible through bullbar)

excuse the cheezy lights, they were upgraded to IPF800's not long after the photo was taken >_<

Ive seen a few 60's with winch bars, and i dunno if its just the oldskool ones ive seen, but its seems that for a winch to fit, the bar hast to stick out about a foot further than a normal bar.

Do the new ones look better, and sit a little bit further back?

The only ones i have seen that stick right out and look pig ugly are the imports with the PTO winch. I have seen the odd one with arb and tjm type bars with electric winches and they look like a normal bullbar.

I had a standard ARB Deluxe bar on my 60 when i bought it. Looks like the one on the blue 60 with the blinkers. I then went and bought a high mount winch. I priced up buying a new bar from ARB, but I ended up modding my old bar. I cut the centre out of it, and welded up a winch carrier. Works tops!
If you want a spare 60 for bits-

See that guys. I told you all grinders save dollars, in this case $143. Man alls you gotta do is cut a hole out for the winch, who here can seriously tell me they can't do that :finger: :D

AFAIK the winch bars have a much stronger middle section (much thicker plate)

Ide love to grind a whole out for the winch but i couldnt trust myself with a grinder ide get too carried away, lol. i might just wait until i run up someones @rse i mean it will happen eventually because we all know the 60's are unstoppable, well when it comes to braking anyway!!! :P
