need help with RD28

Post by Shy Industries »

I'm wondering what the 2.8L turbo is like and what things to look out for and also a general opinion on what they're like and how they perform?
Little old patrol with a little old diesel. Driven once a week to church, never been offroad.
I promise.

they are a good motor.. but sadly underpowered for a such a heavy vehicle...

which is why i swapped motors to 4.2 TD and havent looked back since..

head may go at 220,000

clutch may not last past 200,000 and its a fair cost to replace it since its a dual mass flywheel (only a few places can machine it)

They have a tendancy to spit the crankshaft pulley. Can be expensive depending on what damage is done. Other than that fine
