Post by ZOOK60 »

a mate of mine has a 40 and wants too run spua with a shackle reversal.
Do you get the same benifit of a s/r when it is spua?
is it worth the mucking around or should he just leave it?

I have done it and am not to sure it's the best way to go

On step up hill climb the car gets a bouncing motion up which allows the diff to rotate up wards under load. this never occured with the standard set up

It may be a little different with firm spring set up

To run 36's you may as well SOA it for the guard clearance and run some old flat springs. On the front you can get good travel out of the standard 40 pack with a leaf removed. SOA's are a fairly easy job if you have the tools but they do need engineering, as would SR though.

it is spoa at the moment but it is ridiculesly high . It has one of those bullfrog bodys on it which have a 3" body lift that is not removable. It has pleanty of gard clearance. Just want too keep the cog as low as posible.

Dang! Non removale 3" BL, that sux. I just know that with my 40 SOA and 37's and the tires still hit the guard under full compression, Just.

The symptoms STIKA describes just sounds like axle wrap, i have got the small load leaf out of the rear pack of a 45 at the bottom of my front packs and i find that it reduces axle wrap and doesnt change the amount of flex much at all.

I never bothered with a SR on mine, but that was only because i was lazy. I say give it a go. Remember the shaft will want to over extend and fall out with SR though so you will most likely need long slip shaft as well.
