Extending Front Driveshaft

Post by RockyF75 »

Okay, 1stly, do i need to :? , the mechanic who installed the 2" lift springs said that i will need too, before i get new longer travel shocks, or when i am at full travel, i will rip the guts outta the front driveshaft :? .... has anyone else needed to do this after only 2" lift??? Is there a way of checking cuz if i go to a driveling place of course they are going to say, yes, it needs extending  . Also, can i just get spacers? or would i need to get it actually custom done :? What sorta price would i be looking at?

Does the F70 have slip yokes at the transfer case like the Feroza? I wouldn't think that you would need to with only 2" of lift. I have couple of spacers (stainless steel) if you need one. You could always use a limit strap if you don't want to have the shaft re_tubed right away.

its a F75, it has a slide joint on the actuall driveshaft. I was thinking of jacking the car up from the chassis at the front, to see how far it comes out at full travel. Might have to take the shocks off 1st, but i have no idea really. :?

The spacers would be good if they'd fit a rocky, but i'm in Sydney so dunno about posting them internationally. :?

i doubt u will need it a new one made or lengthened. the one its got has about 100mm (+/-) and ur brake lines (unless uve lengthened them)
definitely wont allow the shaft to seperate. i had mine on a mechos chassis lift of the ground and with all 4s in mid air nothing happened.

if u feel like try a nissan mq drivshaft... prolly too long but its easier to
cut down something than add length on.

PS hows the lift feel, like ur in the clouds my reset did for me :D

You wont need it. But if you decided to, then a spacer would be easier. An inch turned spacer, with 4 bolt holes to suit, and placed between flange and yoke.

I am pretty sure I have greater than 2 inch suspension lift, and even when front suspension droop has the brake hose fully extended, even stretched, the tailshaft hasnt seperated.

K, thanks for the info and anecdotal (sp :? ) evidence, i think i will just get longer shockies and hope for the best. Might jack it off the chassis to full travel and look.
