i suppose you could adapt something similar to fit between the chasis rails of a zook, all you'd need to do is run the pieces of pipe out horizontally instead of angled down like mine, then weld two tabs off the chasis on each side for the blue bush part to squeeze into, then put a bolt through.

the hardest bit is getting the pattern right, if i measured and drew it all up in CAD, i could get a heap of them (just the ring) lazer cut out, of say 6mm steel, then you guys could weld up your own cross members, just to take some of the load off your original mounting bolts.
Anyone interested, want me to get a price?

looks the goods..

have you tried it yet..

do you think it will rock forward and backward due to no third mount or will the bushes not flex that amount?

no haven't tried it yet, as for rocking backward and forward, it may a little, but the bushes don't have much give in them, plus, the imput drive flange at the top is bolted straight onto the back of the gearbox (i.e. no jackshaft), then the front drive shaft is only about 400mm long to a centre bearing then to the front diff. I don't expect it to move much.

i hope.

i could have, but i was given a dead case to experiment with.
I'll get a price together over the weekend.
Will I have to change the pattern slightly so it can be somehow fitted to the stock mounts, or is everyone keen to make their own style of mount and weld it to the outside of the ring?

I think Shane would be keen for one as long as the price is right.

As for the rocking thing, I’m sure it wouldn’t be hard to make one of the arms a Y piece so it has two supports at the chassis. I’m sure you could do this on the buggy as well without much complication.

I say just make the ring, and let people decide how they are going to mount it. The standard mounts need to be replaced in any instance, so if you are going to put one of these on you might as well do it properly.

Whitvit… you know you want to build a zuk! You shouldn’t have sold your last one!

A mates dad has a 1ltr lwb ute, had it since new, only drives it small distances at a max 80km/h -you know the type, real anal and tight (hence the zook) already put my dibs on it when it moves on. always got my eye out.. rarely have the cash..

i think just the ring would be fine, if you have to weld tags on yr zook anyways...plus there are differences in some models.. dual transfers using two of these would be awsome.

thats a good idea have a full ring and people can buy that and make mounts to suit there application

and maby make mounts for people if that want the transfer mounter in stock form.

Tim's right guys, i'll only cut it out with about 20 -25mm extra meat on it with some flats on each side so you guys can do your own thing with them.

I will post up a price on monday.

My mate has also asked me to cut out some "coil hats" to suit vitara coils for his coversion, i was thinking they could be cut out of the piece in the center or our transfer ring so as not to waste material.

They'd just be a circle with some bits sticking out each side for the 'u' bolts to hold the coils in. They could be welded on to diff housings to mount coils.

Does anyone want these too?

Cheers Chris

$35.00 each for the rings guys, cheap insurance for your transfer cases. Especially if you've just invested in gears etc.

Who wants one?
