have looked at it for my GV, anything above 35mm and things start getting messy. steering shafts, fuel lines, clutch line, shifters, strut brace, etc. So I just ended up making room in the guards for my 31's.

haven't done a 04, but have done a 2.0 V6 with the strut brace and just clearanced the inner guards to fit around the brace. Looks pretty stock too.

Can't see any reason why 2" is harder than 35mm. I have lifted three vitaras (1.6 LWB, 2.0 V6 and 2.0 SWB) and heaps of sierras, and really, if you can solve the problems caused by 35mm of lift, then 50mm will be fine.
3"/75mm gets much harder - the low range shifter will end up through the floor and there will be more underbonnet hassles.
