GQ Reving in neutral & trottle sticking (related problem

My Gq is playing up (agian )

i have a reving problem where the throttle seems to stick on gas, and only gas as i dont run petrol.

I notice when the car is in gear and moving, i take my foot off the accelerator and it doesnt slow down like normal the throttle seems to stick and the car can drive along without me needing to touch the accelerator. sometimes it accelerated on me.

also when i am driving along and put the clutch in the car idles between 1600-2000rpm but when i just about come to a complete stop, the revs drop back down to 800-1100rpm.

does this make any sense what i wrote?

i have tried:
cleaning all the parts on the carby like the fast idle thing, springs etc
checked all vacuum lines are ok
bashed the carby with a hammer
checked the air filter
tried playing around with idle speed

it has been going on for approx 1 month and developed after a 4wd trip which i was giving the throttle a hard time over the weekend.

also i have taken it to a mechanic for a quick look and he reckons it could be butterflies but wasnt sure.

buggered if i know.

any ideas of the problem would be great! could it be something to do with the butterflies in the carby, if so is it hard to check them for something?

Funny enough my patrol doest have this problem but my car does, it sticks on and you have to give it a hard rev for it to unstick, I had it fixed about a year ago and they said it was the auto choke sticking on ie. reving way to hard, can drive like 15 km/h without me touching the accelerator. The damn thing has just started doing it again, tried turning the idle screw right down but didnt help much. A mate of mine just had the same problem fixed on his hilux, that and another couple of little jobs cost him about 115 bucks, if only I knew what they did ha.

It could be something as simple as a sticking throttle cable. Just undo the cable at the carby end and squirt some CRC or equivalent down the cable using the small extender tube and move the inner cable around for a while. My old Pajero had a similar problem to yours and that's what the problem I had turned out to be.

They have a hot idle cam on the back of the carby. This ratchets up when the engine is cold and as it heats up the cam slips back to normal position. It is white and is located near the throttle cable connection on the carby. Try turning it anti clockwise when the car is idling high and it should click off. Just try and lubricate this with some crc or similar.
