rocky ute

Post by newbyferoza »

hey everyone am thinking about getting a rocky ute that I have seen around, just wondering what type of suspension is on these and what motors were available for them, I have found two but both are only diesel not turbo diesel. So what are diesels like compared to a feroza engine and would it be cheaper to put a turbo on the original engine or get a turbo diesel engine and transplant it in

cheers, was going to get a hilux but am thinking of being different and getting a rocky ute and keep the daihatsu name going

cheers nic,

good truck with the funny upside down truck shackle on the rear. suspension dunno leaf sprung probly H/D, just remove leaves

2.8 wont die, well mine and flynns get treated treat like turd and they keep goin no matter how much smoke they blow. mike one is turbo'd.

as for turbo its its something like 3k for n engine or get a rocky turbo
from wreckers n slap it on-same manifold so u only pay for turbo and
new 3" exhaust.

then u can come wheelin with rock-solid crew

From info I found once before the utes didn't have a turbo engine standard. If the engine's in good condition find the bits at a wrecker (parts off a Toyota 2.8 turbo should fit) and then get the pump modified to suit at a diesel specialist.

thanks for that guys, what about suspension and tyres, how big a tyre can I put on until you need gearing. I am thinking suspension lift (how far can I go?) and some nice mtr tyres to start with

Going to buy one when uni is finished for the year, I have decided, which is in four weeks :D :D :D

thanks for the info and great response time Spartacus, its great to know someone wants to reply and knows what he is talking about. :)

What suspension is on these things ( is it leaf front and back) and if I put some 32" muddies on what will I have to do for them to fit. I thought 32 would be a good compromise for gearing, what do you think?

Also about the diesels, how do they run on the highway and what economy are they like. The two utes I have looked at have around 200, 000km on the clock is that too many
