2.4 TD engine life?????

Hey There
is 188 000kms for a surf with a 2.4 turbo diesel motor bolted to a 4spd auto alot of kms for the little motor, if it has been serviced every 5000kms what sort of life can u get out of them?????

Id have to say the engine would be half way through its life if serviced well and on time.

its not a motor well known for longevity. is it the later or earlier model? (around 1990 is the changeover) - the newer ones go harder and tend to last a bit longer but 250 - 300 is around the limit.

I got 350,000 km out of mine and thats with hard driving then it droped a valve, so I put a 253 in it.
