fuel guage/sender problems

Post by runnin4life »

hey all ive got a bit of a problem
on my F20
i took it for a run today and decided to fuel it up
now the guage never went any further than half way so it was useless untill the fuel level got below half way ....

so after fuelling up i take off and pottter along down the road and look at the guage it now reads empty what the hell????

does any one know whethere it would be the guage or the sender in the tank

i will check the fuses tomoro

i hope its just some thing that may need a rebuild not a replacment part cus that will be hard to find i think

cheers
any help would be great

Mine is similar, fill it up... gauge goes up..comes back down... goes up again, then as ya use it, it goes down...then back up... and finally down.. this can be fun..if you forget. I suspect a dent in my tank is to blame or more likely a worn sender in the tank.

yes mine is really pissing me off cus now it is either stuck on half, 1/4 or empty so it hard to tell if its really stuck or im running out of fuel

i suppose ill only find out by dropping the tank off and having alook and go from there

till then ill just make sure it full of fuel

Or you could just ignore the fuel gauge and start relying on your tripodmeter. calucaute your average km per tank, and then jus watch ur tripodmeter. reset every time you refuel. problem solved. (although its not a fix.)

had similar prob with my feroza, had to repair sender unit, not sure if there similiar but if u remove sender unit from tank on tne underside there will be a little metal box, if u remove the cover from it u will see a little metal slider thingy. make sure it is touching the copper wire when the float moves from full to empty. this was the prob with the one in my feroza.
