100 Series Help!
I have a 98 100 series and on the weekend I hit a big hole and pushed the left front wheel back about 20mm? I can't see anything bent? I am used to leaf sprung vehicles and not used to coils. Is there anything that I can measure etc to find out what I have bent? I don't have access to another 100 series to compare? Any help would be appreciated.

its is a good posability, mate bent one in an 80 a few months ago, got a bad camberKramer wrote:Sorry its a live axle. I think I may have bent the diff housing as the wheel seems to have a funny camber on it now? It still drives alright but pulls a little to the left?

you can get them straigtened (sp) depending on how bad, can always laminate it at the same time if you are in the abit of hitting big holes? other option, you may be able to get a bare housing from the wreckers at a good price, try the local diff place as well as they shoulod be able to ofer some sugestionsKramer wrote:Well is the 80 series housing the same as there is one in the 4 sale column 4 $500 I could just change the knuckles to suit the 100 series then?

Got hold of the insurance mob and they sent me round to a panel & paint place They don't have a dedicated mechanic? He is not to sure but quoted $750 to replace the lower control arm. I have some photos here cause its a little more serious than that.
The left front wheel is leaning in
And the full lock to the right is seriously limited and I can't find where its stopping its not on the bump stops?
And here is the full lock to the left, see the difference?
What is going on? I think the insurance company is in for a shock.

yeah but if you can prove there is a bigger issue tan just the control arm they will be forced to fid somewhere that will do it for you or just replace the housingKramer wrote:Yeah will have to but its hard to get the insurance company to use someone else!

If you bent the diff housing by 20mm then it would have been hit really hard.
I bent the front one one mine and the only reason we found out was because the driveshaft would not go back in easily.
Check that you have not bent the control are mounts or rounded out the mounting holes.
Simple check is to measure one side to the other.

Ok the insurance is going to cover it and replace the diff etc, but I would love for someone to point me to a thread that has some pics on how to strengthen an 80 or 100 series solid axle diff?
Been through the bibles and all I could find was where Moses built the Ark and sailed around for a few days and when he found some land he parked the boat and brought out his 80 series and wheeled in the mud!
