F-75 Rugger (Rocky)....slipping out of 4wd Low into N

Post by Jerry »

Hi, I have a Jap imported 87 F75 2.8 TD, has a 4wd button on the dash, with manual hubs, has a 4wd knob that shifts into 2L-N-4L....occasionally it seems to just slip out of 4wd Low, I'm guessing something worn or broken on the tcase?? anybody got any thoughts?

PS has anyone got a workshop manual in pdf format..I can't find one anywhere....

When you do a body lift, the hole in the tunnel is too small for the levers, as the hole is now much closer to the top of the levers. Usually, the transfer lever fouls on the rear of the hole, or there is insufficent clearance with the normal boot. Body movement increases the problem, making it more likely that the lever will be accidently pushed from 4L to N. You normally have to enlarge the hole to the rear, and either modify the boot, or change boots.

yeah i figured that, but just thought that if that was Jerry's problem he'd of been alble to work it out as it seems fairly basic (emphasis on SEEMS, i dont have BL so dont really know :? )

Hmmm the engine and gbox were out 30000k ago by the previous owner, perhaps its not sitting in properly, worst case then its something dodgy in the tcase / gbox.

It may have also been previously lifted???
