When you fit the 3 inch lift you will find out. You will still be able to drive it but the steering wheel be light, it will railroad and it won't return back to centre as you would like. Castor correction bushes are $100+freight($10) unless bought with a kit. You will need a decent press to press them in and your old one's out. A mechanic should have a press.

So what does everyone else think. Those who have a true 3 inch lift (Not kings) but don't have castor correction bushes.

Definately get the bushes, I got same lift in my GQ LWB and it was shiatful to drive before I put the castor correction bushes in, after installing them it was as good as standard height if not better. Wouldn't even consider not running them now. Might as well get it all in one hit I reckon.
My 2c worth anyway. Good luck!

to stop all these questions about what needs to be done for a lift, would someone alot more knowledgable than me be able to put something basic in the bible IE...
2" needs Shocks springs -
3" needs shocks, springs - 2degree Castor bushes and adj rear arms(length?) dependant on car?
4" needs.... ?
I know its general knowledge for alot of the blokes that have owned a couple of trucks but for people like me just startin out there's alotta shit on this site to sift through to find what your after
Sorry for the rant

Sorry to hijack, i have 3" King springs (yes more like 2") and they have a very hard ride. What were your thoughts4WD Stuff wrote:Good on ya

Patrol MQ-GQ 2" body lifts $140 SWB, $160 LWB
I believe (correct me if I am wrong) that the kings 3" are really a 2 inch lift for very heavy accessories so you sit higher that the 2 inch lift if you don't have as many accessories(2.5 inches). I think they just put the same shocks as the 2 inch lift shocks in (correct me if I am wrong again).4WD Stuff wrote:

I know when I get Procomps to suit the 3 inch lift I sell, I get them an inch longer front and rear then other brands.
As for your question, I have never owned a stiff coil, I always wanted more flex then my brother inlaw who introduced me to 4wding.

I would do stuff like buy extra soft 4 inch rear coils so they would hopefully sag to suit my soft 3 inch lift coils. It never did sit level. It was a real handful to drive without castor correction bushes. I then made the mistake of buying Repco castor correction bushes as I was in a hurry and they were way too stiff. Too much road vibration and not great for flex.
After buying a few sets of coils off my supplier I got to know him quite well.

Re: castor correction is it needed?
i have sold heaps of 3 inch kits & most guys dont fit castor kits.although i do sell them . the factory rubber bushes will flex more than urethane. it depend on how fussy you are. fit the suspension first & see how it drivesInSanE wrote:just curious what type of castor correction if at all that people are using on their 3" lift kits on GQ Patrol ? because i want to fit a 3" lift this week and unsure
