60 series gear into a 40.
Guys
Have a heavily modified 60 wagon that I have replaced for touring duties with a new wagon, which leaves me holding a vehicle that I have spent 30 plus grand on, now worth about 5 grand and I cant bring myself to give it away. What I would like to do is build a 40. Can I shorten the 60 chassis and put a 40 body on it, or do I use the 40 chassis and put all my gear into that?
Some of the gear I have :
350 chev, Turbo 400, King springs, 9000 Rancho's, ARB lockers, big tanks, ARB barwork and warn 10000lb, 35's on 10's, ARB seats, etc
I would like to use as much of this gear as possible as it is all in great shape
cheers

everything should fit except the bar work might be different, i am not to sure on that one, also the engine mounts might be different, but you can also use your 60 series springs to extend your wheel base in the 40, 40's are cooler than 60's so do it
Holden or laxatives? I pick laxatives, at least I'm guaranteed the sh*ts gonna run !!!

and 60 series springs only fit late model (after 1979) 40's
Spit my last breath
a late 40 will take no spring hanger mods to fit them, an earlier one you'll need to use late model spring hangers.joel HJ60 wrote:Would a 40 series benefit from 60 series spring? In any way. What mods would be needed to do this?
the rear springs will stretch your wheelbase, which is a good thing, they'll also give you a little flex
mods for the rear you'll need a longer driveshaft, probably a good idea to extend your brake soft lines (get another standard one and screw that to your existing one for double the length) if you've got a gas tank under the ass then your probably gotta move it. you also might have to frig around with shock mounting.
for the front, similar thing, but there isn't a huge gain to be made. so i'd personally just use the rear springs in the rear of your 40.

and then what are you going to do with it,stare at it and see if it will fit it selfDIRTY ROCK STAR wrote:what about you give me the 350 and ARB lockers??
