Hey... Does anyone know what the resistance value for the two 4wd vacuum solenoids is. Looks like i've ended up with the dreaded flashing light syndrome. (Damn its bloody anoying) Have sprayed inox down them and actuated them plenty of times with an external power source but lights still intermittently flash. The yellow traced one sounds like it's a bit sad so would like to test the resistance values!!
Any help would be sweet!!

Solenoid resistance

Hi Hudson,
I'm currently looking into the same issue with mine. All seems OK up top, the solenoids are pulling in and out OK and vacuum is present at the Yellow solenoid for 2WD and the Blue one for 4WD. Next thing is to pull the sump guard off and check the actuator and vacuum tank.
My solenoids measured at 40 and 45 ohms... seems about right.
For what it's worth it seems the flashing lighs occur when there is a discrepancy between the position of the 4WD lever and where the actuator is positioned. I'll also check the Free Wheel Engage Switch when I'm under the car as that seems the likely suspect. It seems reasonable to assume that if the solenoids are behaving correctly the 4WD lever position switch is OK (I assume the solenoids and ECU are fed by the same switch?)
Cheers,
Pete

The wires coming out of the actuator switches on the top of the transfer case get hard with time and also have a tendency to break. I removed all of mine when I had the case out; drilled out the old wiring and soldered new wire in - all lights now work and no flashing.
Might be another cause!

When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading
Checked the actuator and it works OK, although it did seem a bit stiff initially when I tried to manually move it. Engage switch is Ok too.
One thing I did find which backs up Noisey's post is that the voltage to the solenoids (2WD = 12V) wasn't always present when 2WD was selected. Just seems to be an itermittent fault and wasn't rectified even with jiggling the Tfr case lever. The volage came back again after driving fwd/back a little so there may be a dicky switch or wiring on the transfer case itself.

HELLO,
I HAVE 12 V 4M40 ENGINE. I HAVE ALSO ENCOUNTER SUCH SCENARIO BLINKING INDICATOR ON MY PANNEL I DONT KNOW IF MY 4WD IS ENGAGE OR NOT BUT AFTER REPLACING MY BATTERY INTO NEW ONE THAT HAS 80 AMPS THE BLINKING STOPS. I HAVE ALSO CONSULT A TRUSTED LOCAL MECHANICS HE SAID THE SELONOIDS AND TERMINALS NEEDS CLEANING AS WELL. FROM THAT DAY ON BLINKING LIGHT SYNDROME STOPS. I HAVE FURTHER PROVEN THAT MY BATTERY IS WEAK COZ IT LOSES CHARGE BY ITS SELF. I ASK THE MECHANIC HE SUGGEST CHANGING MY BATTERY MAY SOLVE THIS FLASHING LIGH. I DONT KNOW IF IT MAKES SENSE WITH YOU SIR BUT IT WORKS ON MY PAJERO. MANY THANKS

hi,
Better late than never......I collected a pile of information from forums/emails/manual/etc. to solve my flashing problem, and written a webpage guide with suggestions to guide troubleshooting the super select flashing light problem, here is the link:
flashing light fix
hope it helps
