GU diffs
GU diffs
anyone that could help out with the following info would be good....
What is a good price for a pair? what ratios did they come out with?
Possibly 4.6?
can they handle 42s with little problems in CV strength?
also compared to GQ diffs, how much wider are they?

mate my pair of 4.625's cost 3k from gold coast 4x4 wreckers. i am running 38's on mine. the prob is that with a 38 they turn too much and hit on the arms so you will need to adjust the steering stops. that said they are far less likely to break if they are turning less

mate i run 4" backspace beadlocks on 10" rims. driving style has more to do with breaking stuff at a 42" level. even a mog diff will break with the right hp and lock steering. the way i see it they are strong enough. i wouldn't run 4.88 as they are too weak in the pinion but 4.6 should be ok but are rare as they came outta the 2.8 99 gu's. maybe get the bigger rear diff from some 3lt and the utes as i have seen a few rear axles break. they really are massive but the grade of steel isn't the best. you don't have too many options as far as cheap axles go for 42's so gu are prob the best bet. the gq ones are not much weaker apart from the cv's, but note they have a 2m larger turning circle.

they are about 30% stronger i have been told. you would be doing well to break one, many competiors don't carry spares in the obc. a decent gq cv like a haultech or a modded to suit toyota longfield should be gu strong (or posibly stronger) but would cost much the same and i prefer std factory for easy part exchange or emergence swap during race etc

kym bolton broke one in the obc in 04, 36's. driving style is more important. also cheesy was making his own cv's at the time so one would assume his were modded

I used to break a GQ cv (new) every outing without fail then went to genuine 4.6 ratio and GU front fiff and have not broken a thing. The GU cv is 2cms bigger than a GQ gv.

MQ CVs are the same as GQ CVS, and im popping them farely regularly...... i want to upgrade without the huge cost of danas etc etc...
