Not happy. Broke the key off in the ignition (At the airport!!!) and had to smash the tumbler out (half the key went DOWN....) - now need no key for the car! Thinking of taking out the door locks too, putting in central locking (mine is 89 - doesn't have that) and having a starter button and just a switch for ignition - cool, but not real secure!
Maybe one of those switches with the red cover you have to flip up and press for starter
You can get some cheap kits at the moment... I put in a central locking (bought a 4 door ($25 @ JayCar) and rigged up one wire to the solenoid on the rear door), and looking at a keyless system soon (bout $30 - $40 without alarm)... Piss easy install too
or jus get a new key made that matches your lock, and buy a new ign. switch. no biggie.

In one of my old cars i welded the door locks up after I installed central locking... was great until the central locking went south.. trying to break in was a pain.
A friend of my mine has this
and since it has no doors he wanted a big START button so he could ditch the keys all together. Ended up getting a Keypad kit from Jaycar... i wouldnt do it but he likes it.
I'm thinking of leaving the rear keylock in, 'just in case' and hooked to the central locking - then it still opens/shuts, my doors look cool with no locks, and i can get in when the system dies (like the rest of the @#$@# car!)
As far as installing the sollenoids in the doors, how do you run the wire from the door to the body (Neatly)?
I can see that the door has a rubber plug in it, which I could poke a hole in and get the wire out throught there, but then what? Do I drill a hole in the door jam to get the wire into the body, or is there a simpler solution?
Each door would already have sum wiring running through it to the body for door lights, and demister on the rear, just gotta pull the door lining off, pull the rubber plugs/boots off, and add your wiring as neatly as you can.... running your own wire THROUGH the body however, might be a little more difficult
Mine has no electrics either... the rubber plug was there in the door, but into the body there was nothing... so i drilled it out! Decent hole and use another rubber plug to protect the cables from bare metal, and also some cheap black tubing to run the cables through... You might also if interested think about running speaker wires to the doors while you are at it to save hassle later on...
Central is an easy install if you measure everything right and drill holes in the right places, took me about 2 - 3 hours
I ran my wiring out of the body - follow the cables behind the accellerator and the same place on the left hand side, then if you reach through the front panel (I removed the front half of the black cover under the front wheel arch) you can follow the wire for the turn segnals and use that hole, then back to the doors...
Sounds complex but then nothing gets in the way of the wiring and no drilling or anything!
