New clutch

Post by Aris »

Hey all

Did the clutch (GQ, gas-converted TB42, stock drivetrain) the other day, looking to get it replaced.

I'm looking for the biggest heavy duty mother that'll fit in my truck.

Did some phone calls to get some quotes, got proposals for an Excedy (hope I spelled it right) Safari and PVR clutches. Are they good?

Can someone please tell me some recommended makes & models I should be looking out for?

Also, I have an issue with towing it back to base - several hundred k's on the M1. A friend is giving me his 80 series (yes, I know it's a patrol forum, don't stone me.. It's what I got ;-)), so I just need some legit tow means.

I fished about for a low-loader for hire, but nobody seems to be hiring big ones that can take a 2.5 ton truck (the biggest I found was 1.5T). Can anyone help here and point me to someplace that does?

Alternatively, an acquaintance offered to lend me his (non-steerable) A-Frame (the kind that requires a second driver in the car being towed to steer and break). Is using it legit (if cops catch me on the freeway, do I have it coming?)

Also, is towing a 2.3 Ton patrol (on a <1Ton low oader) using a 2.5 ton cruiser legit?

Any other recommendations?

Thanks!
