Pix of cut guards on SWB Vit please!
Pix of cut guards on SWB Vit please!
Hey All!
I just got some 31" mongrels the other day, and will need to make room under my 2" body lifted Vit.
Can anyone post a few pix of what they might have done to theirs?
I will likely only need to chop behind the front tyres, as a new custom bumper will be making room up front.
Anything hiding in there I should not put an angle grinder to?
Any opinions if coil spacers will make a difference in how much goes under the knife? Worth it at this point? As I won't be installing longer springs/shocks for some time.
Thanks in advance all..

with only 2" BL, you might have to bash the firewall in a bit too to allow them to clear. 31" mongrels may be a bit bigger in actual diameter, so just make sure you bash enough outta the firewall.
i jacked one side front up, put the wheel and tyre on, and turned the wheel, to see where it scrubs, and then bashed accordingly.
with the outer guard, the pic shows about where i cut mine. i took the actual guard off the car to cut it, then you can also see or cut whatever you need behind them.
i marked out the line i wanted to cut, but then i marked a second line which was about 20mm smaller than the line i want to cut. reason being, i wanted to fold a lip back, and so i would have somewhere to mount my flares.
but thats about all you might need to do. the rear tyres might rub on the top of the rear guards during stuff, but its so easy to lift a vit, you should consider it as well.
good luck. let us kno how it all goes.

Thanks guys!
This gives me plenty to work with. While at Vic Winch earlier today, I got an offer to fork lift the damn thing to check left/right lock from under and get the damn things to fit right the first time.
I'll post pix once done.
Later, J.
P.S. SIKID, the hardest workin' man on OL, well suzi page anyway. The suzi bibles have been most useful to all. Thx!

Hey Mick - Not sure if we've met, but the Suzi pix look awesome! Thx.
Jim - Caught up with Paul at Vic Winch.. I think he has MONSTER plans for the remains of the Vit.
I will be getting hold of the winch bumper, and some other useful bits.
I posted some Vic Winch pix at www.3rdrock4x4.com in case you want to see. In the trips/tracks section. It was a real goodtimer!

New Shoes!
Hey All!
Here is the result of a little snip here a little BASH there. I still need to bash a few more centimeters into the firewall to stop the rubbing. Maybe I can limit the steering?
I would need to limit back about an inch at full lock.
Any suggestions as to how to get that done?
Regardless, thanks to all who posted advice.
Jwreck
P.S. Real ready to see the difference these will make!

Good eye guys!
Yeah, the guys who fitted them were obviously not on that day, and I was busy finding out that the tubes I had in them were too big for the tyres!
I didn't put them on until a few weeks later, so yeah.. not happy.
I'm going to get it reversed this weekend. About 5 minutes, and some name calling should be all it takes.

Hey..
Theguys I got them from was running pro comp tubes in 'em, but obviously the wrong size.
Not that I'll need them with a Vit on top. It'll be interesting to see how much run I'll get out of them. I was planning to just throw them on for wheeling, but as you can imagine, once they went on.. just don't wanna go back!

Yeah Frog..
I live in the big smoke, so I try and keep the daily driver thing to a minimum. I'll measure the tread depth today, and keep an eye out on the distance I drive between noticible wear until they're stuffed.
It's what this forum is all about.. "try it, love it - pass on the good word" or "try it, hate it - let your gravestone be a warning to others" ...
I'm off wheelin today, so will flip the tyre and likely be back here in a few days to rave rave rave about these little suckers!
