hay guys
new to the forums but been looking on here for a while.

i got a GQ patrol petrol LWB

2 weeks ago i put a 4" lift kit in i got from 4wdsystems and i installed it myself.

first 2 weeks was good, took it out bush for first time yesterday and when i got home i noticed that car was not level

the front driver side is 40mm lower and Rear Driver side is 45mm lower.
We cant work out what is wrong. i rang 4wdsystems today and they was going to get back to me

any suggestions would be great

also have noticed the rear driver side spring is in a concaved shape.

You have put springs on the right sides,?eg taller ones on driver side,maybe 2 soft of a spring rate,is it on duel fuel with fuel tank on driver side and spare tyre?Ihad simlar prob lot of extra kg's on d/s. hope i was some help. cheers Lou

for them to sag 40mm, they would have needed to give you soft SWB coils, 40mm is a big drop in 2 weeks,

especially since it basically happened while you were out wheeling, maybe the springs wernt built properly,

you wouldnt expect passenger side to be that much softer than drivers side springs,

yer fronts was only ones different and they r right.

no gas just spare tyre


yer ozy1 we thought they wasnt built properly but that would require 2 springs to fail. didnt think the chances of that was very high. Will ask them about SWB coils tomorrow

What did you ask for when you got the package. The softer the coil the better flex and the more it is likely to sag. It isn't likey to be the spring failing just because.

I don't know about 4wd systems but usually the drivers side coils are longer then the passenger side to allow for the driver, battery and spare tyre. Sometimes they are not because of the extra costs involved to do this.

I suggest you swap the coils from left to right/right to left. After it sags back to the drivers side (because of you), ask them for some spring spacers to correct it. Maybe ask them if the drivers coils is longer then the passenger coil. Free packers are the go but 30mm is the biggest packer that I sell.

Any other dramas are between you and them.

What else did you get with your kit besides springs and shocks.

Did you get adjustable trailing arms. You need these to keep the spring perch level. If you don't fix that bannana shaped coil, it will stuff it pretty quickly. A warranty is only good if you fitted all the bits needed. Hopefully you were told about this. Most companies are pretty good with their warranties though, even when it isn't their fault.

just asked for a 4" lift for a GQ petrol nissan patrol thats all they asked.
i got a heap of other stuff too, eg snorkle, locker and stuff
they gave me 3degree castor bushes for the front which i got fitted.
drivers front was longer then the passenger side but it wasnt much. and the rear was same.

if i swap them over and the springs sag then i will only have like a 2" lift when i wanted a 4" lift.

i got adjustable panhard rods on front and rear diffs which have been setup. but dont know why the spring is like a bannana.

Didnt get castor bushes for the rear as i dont think u change the rears in GQ patrols

What direction is the coil bending towards. I guess it is facing towards the back of the 4b. What needs to happen is for the lower trailing arms to be lengthened or the upper ones shortened. Most people go for the lower trailing arms for the after market extra strong adjustable trailing arms and because it pushes your tyres towards the rear a tad, away from your guard.

This (bananna) is probably adding to the reason why it is sagging more than usual to the drivers side. Sometimes but I doubt this very much in your case, the chassis is twisted. Anyway 40mm is too much. 30mm is fairly common.

If you haven't already you will need to fit longer brake lines.
