CHEAP EBAY COMPRESSORS - WHAT DO YA THINK???
Hey there i was just hoping someone may have bought one of these cheaper air compressors that are for sale on ebay so i can see if theyre worth buyin or not. Im looking at the 72 L/min one and you can get them around $100 i think.
Any opinions appreciated.

i bought one, ended up payin 75 bucks includin postage for the "12 volt" one... they tested this one in 4wd monthly issue 80 i think.. claims 72 ltrs same as the bushranger but they found it was a little slower, still shitloads faster than arb ect... ... anyways its not here yet but i plan to give it a good work out... i think for tyre inflation pressures they will be fine.. just may overheat a little when run to locker pressures on big tanks...cant really go wrong for 75 bucks anyways

I recently bought a "dual valve" eBay compressor rated at 90L/minute for around $100.
When I first got it I tested it against my super cheap compressor but it kept blowing its air line off its connectors - very cheap ans nasty hose and wierd size connectors.
That was pretty disappointing but since I intended to get different, longer 10mm hose anyway I did not worry.
Since changing all the connectors to standard size and getting 10m of decent hose it it working OK. I have mounted the compressor under my seat with air outlets mounted into the seat steel - very convenient.
Overall I am happy with the compressor but expect to replace the hose and fittings if you get one - dont wait until your on the beach and the standard hoses f**k up. Its not the qulity of the blue tongue but its 1/4 the price, inlcuding hoses...

I ahve used a 12v gear E bay compressor for the last 6 months. It works well but heats up really quickly. Throw the hose it comes with in the bin and put a better one on...they are crap. I also pulled the compressor apart as it was blowing air out the sides of the motor but it fixed up ok with some silicon. My compressor feeds a air tank along with an arb compressor and greatly helps the arb with the job. I think with some quality fittings these are pretty good compressors.

As long as the compressors are continuously rated the only thing that changes is it's output. If they are not continuously rated it will overheat and fry itself! Do your homework and get the best one you can afford as it will last a hell of a long time. I got mine through a guy on the sunshine coast who imported continuously rated compressors that were out of cars with air bag suspension. It is rated at about 48lpm and it has never let me down and i can run it as long as i want. I got it at mates rates 'cos i got a heap of other stuff off him but i think he retails them for about $250 but don't quote me on that. They are done up with hose and mounts etc......
That's my 2 cents worth on the subject anyway.............Pete!

Haven't mounted it as yet, will do so soon I hope.
Trav
mounted mine the other day, worked fine till i mounted it, then started blowin fuses, was shortin out via the mounts, it seems the whole body of the compressor is positively charged when ever it is turned on... make sure u use rubber mounts
after from that mine works a treat, its the 200 psi 72 ltrs a min one that oz auction sell... i have a 6 ltr air tank that i timed the arb to fill it to 90 psi.. 4 mins. the ebay one is about one minute 10 seconds... fair bit quicker... just hope it lasts
