Have a search about climax shackels, most say they arntworth the money and you should run a trac bar with them.pootrol wrote:where trying to get more articulation out of my mates GU flat tray.the rear leaf springs are holding it back.superiour dont do them for a vehichle this heavy they told us so climax looks the way to go.any one had any experiance with them.probably going to remove a leaf from each side as well to soften it up.which leaf do u pull out.
I would just play around with the leaf packs (the longer the leaf you remove the better flex you will gain. Its basicly trial and error but i would pull the 3rd from the top and maybe a small one near the bottom). You will also need a new center bolt (get a high tensile bolt). And i would make/buy some 2" extended shackels.
Once this is done you will most likely find that your shocks are too small and will limit travel. So flex it up with the shocks removed to check.
To measure for your new shock lengths get it tottaly flexed up and measure the extended and compressed lengths needed and add about an inch to each

I would ring Climax Suspension, have a talk to DINO, 0249668669...
He invented them and I know his old Susuki (tweety) was mad on the travel ramp....its alot to do with the way the system is set up and the longer shocks you choose...be honest with him and tell him what you expect...see if it is achievable.....godd luck.

buy all the brackets from big balls etc, find a contract welder to do the final, and have it all tacked up with a $100 welder, just copy off a std one move the lower mounts 20mm further back, weld it all and its done. should get away with it for a grand easy. make your own coil hats outta plasma/lazer cut rings and pipe, upper ones off a wrecked gq chassis or custom.pootrol wrote:tried the coil conversion.a well known company said its all diff geometry and will cost 2-3000 bucks to do a coil conv in the rear.for that can nearly get a 5"susp lift all round.
look at bartso in members his wheelbase extenstion required all this and he went a frame

my 2 cents worth 3/4 eliptic works well

X3 for 3/4 over whacky shackles.
I have seen plenty of people try various whacky shackles and always give up on them but the guys that run 3/4 still have it.
3/4 isn't perfect but it has far fewer bad habits than whacky shackles.
