I heard a rumer that a chick broke a CM longfield
i went looking but cant find it yet
But I did find this :shock: :cry:

Bobby beleives the rust in the Birf had a lot to do with it. And this is an Old breakage not a new one.

Its not like its the first to break. They can be broken. And i know of more than is commonly known that have been either broken or damaged. But they are defianatly still a great product.

Any thing can be broken, what u want to see is a vid of how he was treating his rig when it broke.

I broke one - the stub shaft snapped - suspect was over hardened.
Got the stub machined off some std cvs and welded onto the chrmo bells.

No problems since.

Why would you do this??? Bobby will replace a broken or damaged one without a problem.

What inner axles are you running with these? And do the CVs have a ring welded on to them?

Bobby did replace them for me - but it takes a while to get stuff out of the states and I had a comp on.
Std inners.
No ring - these were chromo cvs that Bobby has made somewhere - bells are brilliant, just a bit overhardened in the stub shafts.

Do they have those magically treated parts for LJ78?
From Toyota electronic parts catalog part#s are different for 4Runners which they have in US and light duty Cruisers.

On the other hand, part# is the same for LJ78 and HZJ73 - 43405-60040.
Can that be?

Longfield 4340/300m cv's are also available for 80 series. Sorry I don't know if these are the same as used in LJ78, but it is very likely.
