tried 35" pro comps and they were good. did 40000 kays and then got $600 for 4 of them. Got claws now and they don't seem to be wearing as well but better off road. I think the old style BFG mudders were the best all round tyre however I don't how the new ones are wearing.
Remember some days your the pigeon and other days your the statue
I have heard from a few people (even BFG retailers), that the new BFG Muds are spitting off lugs like no tomorrow and there have been some real horror stories with them. I think I will probably go for a simmilar tyre to the x terrain, or something of that nature. I have been forewarned by many people to stay away from the new muds.
My mate has 4 of the old styles...and they seem to be faring up pretty well for the abuse he gives them.

I like mud
i've got 35" x 12.5" bfg Muds (new style, almost new condition) for road use & they are great, even with the chev pushing them they grip no problem with skidding in wet either I'd rate em 10/10 for road use
Offroad well, i guess i'll never know, Go the swampers

I have 315/75 /16 X-Terrains and they have been the best off-road tyre I have used on-road. Grip very well and stop well in the wet.
Off road they have been excellent on fast dirt and rocks. In 2 years I have only damged one tyre and I have done some pretty hard tracks as well as 4 Navruns.
They aren't the best in mud. They do ok when new but are pretty crappy once they have worn down a bit and lost the square edges. I have also slid sideways off an off cambor track once.
So depends what you want to do and where you want to go.

Depends what you are after in a set of tyres. I had 35 inch Xterrains.. They were great on-road, great on dirt, strong, solid tyres. Offroad, well on rock they were good, in mud, pretty average. They seriously lack side lugs. And this effects them greatly offroad, but makes them great on road. The tyres wore well.. So depends on your requirements. I have gone for BFG Muddies this time around, and are much more happier, as i want a more aggressive offroad tyre.
Also they are directional, which to be honest is a pain in the ass.
