Hi all I am not that technically minded, so this is probably a stupid question,but what alternatives do I have to removing my swaybars and or fitting disconnects after fitting a 4 inch lift to my GU,

Alternatives to swaybar disconnects

NFI about Patrols, but for a long time Jeepers have been using quick disconnects for offroad usage - now however the trend is moveing into non-disconnect swaybars - that are basically much more flexible for offroad use than a normal connected sway bar, but give a more "Controlled" flex and simply remain connected onroad.
The most common of these products is the Currie Anti-Rock (US made)...as I said NFI is this could be applied to Patrols - but quite a few of the setup Jeeps are now moveing to these anti-rock bars....

For your lift, I would not worry about quick release disconnects, just lengthen (or buy longer) your swaybar links. At full droop the links are the limiting factor, not the swaybar itself. The rear swaybar on Patrols are not overly thick to reduce the flex, yet can be a benefit on-road. Having the rear swaybar connected may help transfer some flex to the front suspension in some situations. IMO you should just get longer link pins and not worry about quick disconnects, as disconnecting the swaybar will not make any difference off-road. Look for longer pins that will make the lower section of the swaybar (the section that runs parallel to the lower trailing arm) parallel with the ground. Depending on what shock/spring combo you have used, this will put the swaybar in a neutral setting, therefore allowing %50 travel up and down.

Yep it helps heaps as I was only thinking that disconnects would be the way to go as I had not thought of just getting longer extensions,
