buying Lockrights from the US

Post by JBE »

Hi

I found a source for Lockrights for GQ front diffs (#3210) in the US. The qouted me $US 273 plus $US 41 fright (USPS Airmail). My question is, is this a good price or should I keep on searching?

Does anyone know shops in the US who sell them cheaper?

Cheers

If it is a 3210 buy it, in fact buy 2 and sell one on eBay to pay for it.

I was chasing up one a while ago....
After a crap load of emails etc, no body would from powertrax / richmond etc would give me a 100% answer that it would fit the patrol. They design them for a US spec pathfinder rear LSD.

Had a post on another thread and this was one reply.....

I understand that the H233 from the Patrol and the pathy had different bolt sizes so the LSD conversion needs the bolt holes drilled out amongst other things.

You then use the rear Pathy LSD centre in conjunction with your existing R&P from the Patrol.

If so you'd probably need to do the same on the Lockright - but you'd be struggleing to find tech support and of course if it doesnt work and you've drilled holes in it you're stuffed.

Apparently BBM import the lockers, so give them a quick bell for the right part no.

PS, ended up with a lokka, and couldn't be happier with it.....

I got a lockright for my H233b in my Terrano from the US. I have an open diff though. I wasn't aware they made one for the LSD. You better double check all the specs of each diff. My mate was thinking of getting the same locker I got for his front diff on his GQ. I did a fair bit of asking around and found out that my diff has a four pin carrier whilst the GQ H233b has a 2 pin carrier. I don't know if that will be the case for you, but make sure you do a lot of research!

The Snakeracing web page lists the Lockright #3210 for the front diff of a GQ. The #3220 is listed for leavesprung GQ utes there. They want $860 for it. Also, Blckmav has a #3210 in his front which makes me think, I'm correct with the my choice.

To Scout292's comment: Lokkas are not the same as Powertrax Lockrights. To my knowledge, Lokkas are manufactured in China and I heard mixed opinions regarding their durabiluty.

To Bruce's comment: I've bought gear from the US before without problems and yes, there is a risk with buying from overseas. Given that this is half price compared to buying the same item in Australia, I think it's worth the risk.

Warranty's on lockright's arn't worth shit I had two in my hi-lux when one died all the Australian company said was "you must of put it in wrong you will have to pay for the parts" and that was that.

Got one in my gq now and love it . I Will buy air lockers when they lower the price

Mate check out www.ringpinion.biz.

They're a US company, that should be able to get hold of whatever you need. The owner Jeremy Ayers was easy to deal with.

Bought a Tractech (Detroit) E-Z Locker for US$280 all up, door-door in 4 days via UPS. Bargain!
