80 series clutch

Hi,
The clutch of my 80 series is about due to be changed and I have been given a few differing opinions on what to do. quotes I have been given are for Daiken, Valeo and original, the price has only varied by a couple of hundred dollars, I am interested in any input and experience any of you guys have.

What are the prices you have been given grub? I have to do the clutch in my 80 too!

Are they all the standard equipment? or Heavy Duty? or do they only make one?

hey guys

not that long ago replaced mine. and i would highly recomend the safari tuff clutch.
was about 1000 and well worth it. i now a few of the comp trucks are running them and are very happy with how they hold.

i can supply exedy standard $355 . heavy duty $400 & safari tuff $500 for
pressure plate/clutch plate & t/o bearing. not that hard to fit yourself, i did mine 100 series last month

I have a HD Daikain in my 80 and has been there for 3 years.. gits a very hard life and im very happy wid it :)

I have to do the syncros in my b/b soon and will put in a new clutch at the same time.
ATM I have a H/d clutch but don't know what sort. The previouse owner just said it was H/D. The clutch peddle is alot harder than a standard 80, is there a way you can lighten the peddle but keep the H/D clutch.

Anyway, I really do recommend this kit for an 80series, it does take a while to get used to the hard pressure plate, but it´s all good. I like watching the guys at wheel alignment places and so... trying to move the car around and not been able to handle this type of clutch. :lol:

Thanks for input but I am going to keep standard toyota clutch, this is based on price alone. The one I have in now is standard and has lasted quite well. I was almost going to tackle the job, but the size and weight of the gearbox scared me off as I haven't got the right tools to support and remove them.
