Hi' just found this forum.yes i know,not good at putor stuff... I would like to get some info, or help, or anything on putting 33inch tyres or bigger,(legal) on my 94 duel cab lux.Have already got complance plate for v6 engine exchange,need 33s for better fuel consumption.If cant do,ill maybe go for 4.11 diffs.Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.Thank You G.Ryan
you can't do 33's legally. i believe 31's are OK.

I am not a Hilux man but here goes. You will fit them in for road use but if you want to flex her up then she will scrub like mad unless you head for the body lift then I don't know.
How sure are you that 33's will give you a better fuel ecconomy? Bigger tyres have always made my fuel ecconomy worse.

i run 33's on my hilux, coppers dont look twice at me, however this is a risk i take... 33's on a hilux is fairly common now a days, i have 4" lift but u can fit em with no lift and guard chop or just 2" lift

i got 33s on my IFS. if u dont want to scrub, stick to 2' body lift and anything else u can get for suspension....wind up torsion bars to little under max, or for leafs, get higher leafs. Keep the offset of the rims to IFS spec rims (for IFS Lux) or tyres will rub on mudflaps and back guard, if u got front leafs, dont worry about anything except body lift.
as for legal, in NSW that wont be a problem, just get it checked out by the engineer at Mortlake/Peakhurst (Automotive I think name) and u really shouldnt have a problem, he said mine should be ok, just dont quote that, every truck is scrutinised individually.

I tryed some 32" Claws on my 91' and they scrub pretty badly under articulation. That is with 2" spring lift; you can cut gaurds or get body lift or go a bigger suspension lift.

here is me breaking it down for ya luxyboy:
Spring lift:
anywhere from $500 to $2500
the most expensive. if done right, also the most beneficial.
will affect center of gravity. no need to get it checked by QLD Transport

the mid - cost. anywhere between $60 and $300
will affect center of gravity. Has to be checked by QLD Transport.
easy to do (a few hours work)

Free. Keep center of Gravity nice and low.
will make your truck a little ugly if done wrong. there's a limit to how much you can cut / bash in.
in my opinion, get a combo of all three. Thats what i have (although mine is set up for carrying load, not flexing). Thats my personal opinion tho.

I believe that the older model luxes were built toyota tough
Don't worry about the body lift. What the other guys haven't added is the fact that the only scrub you'll get with 2" springs is on the back of the front guards at full stuff. Moving your front diff forward will eliminate this. If you don't want to redrill your perches then buy axle relocation plates from BBM... Cheaper and looks better than a body lift plus no other issues like steering shaft adjustments, shifter probs, fan shroud probs, engine bay brake lines etc you get my drift.
