Computer Replacement

Post by manno74 »

I'm still trying to dort out my temperamental 3.0L

It's been to the local Nissan dealer for three days last week, but still no joy with finding the fault I mentioned before (coolant remp sensor fault, but replaced sensor... no good, looking for shorts etc, no go!).

All in all, I'm starting to think that it's going to end up being the ECU. At $1600 odd dollars for a new ECU from Nissan, I'm wondering if any of the after market units (DTRONIC, TUNIT etc.) can simply replace the OME? or do they need to "piggy back" the ECU?

Any thoughts? I'm getting desperate - I'm meant to be heading for four weeks in Tassie next week! Does anyone know someone to call at Nissan?

Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to provide.
2000 GU II, 6.5L Chev Diesel (ex ZD30), lift, bar+winch, rear bar, drawers, fuel tanks I need a personal loan to fill... most of the regular touring gear.
