Mounting speakers, that still work in a packed fourby
Mounting speakers, that still work in a packed fourby
Hi all,
I have a question about mounting speakers, maybe others have come up with solutions.
I have a fairly good stereo but its not over the top (doof doof)
I have now made a rear storage system for my GQ SWB and the rear speakers, mounting in the rear doors, are now blocked. I need some ideas for keeping a good sound. This is a common situation when anyone loads up their fourby, blocking speakers.
I have some good speakers in the front doors but they are more mid-range.
I was thinking of putting a small bass tube behind one of the front seats, on the floor, or even mount some drivers under the seats to give a bit of thump - simulating a big bass sound.
Any ideas?
thanks

I removed my rear door speakers. Have you ever been to a concert where the speakers are behind you?
Invest in a good set of door speakers. I bought some Earthquake 6.5 inch with directional tweeters. I had to fit spacers as they were too deep for the door. I'll get around to painting the spacers one day.
If that isn't doof doof enough, as you suggested a small powered sub behind a seat is your next option.

I cut holes in the toolbox/storage i made just behind the front seats, the only time its muffled is when i overload my car with mates stuff as well.
be carefull how far you come out with the speaker spacers in the front door, they can get damn annoying scrapin ya knuckles when your winding the windows up n down.

put a decent set of 6 inches or splits int the front doors on angled pods and you should be good and 6x9's in the rear as high as possible on the sides......... mine worked a treat and keep many a beach party and lancruiser trip entertained...... a small sub would have made it perfect... but then battery power becomes an issue........... make sure decent speakers and head unit are bbought.... i ran fusion speakers and jvc mp3 player

A guy at work had a LR Defender. He mounted some speakers in the rear, at the top of the roof line.
I dont think they where anything fancy but I am sure the boxes they came in, it would be possible to put decent speakers in the enclosure. Then he just made a bracket to scrw them to some thing. Not sure what there is on a patrol as I have never looked.
As for speakers not being behind me at a concert. Well they dont point them at my foot either.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY....
There used to be a thing you could buy that went from side to side along the cargo barrier, like a roof console. this was for that exact reason.
Me... I just put good 6x9 alpine speakers in the door and the back doors, as I like to back the car up to the camp, and open the back doors, listen to tunes.
