IROKs?

hay i just got a question going I'm seeing alot of comp trucks going over to Superswamper IROKs.... but they look by pictures have less rubber than the normal swamper .. so why are they liked?

Many years of experience have gone into the IROK to develop a tire with traction ‘as good as it gets' in mud, snow and rock climbing. It has a directional tread in the famous Three Stage Lug design, scooped lugs, blade and molded siping, special sidewall features, extra tough cord and cut resistant compounds in a super traction package always...

They are a stickier/softer compound and by running a slightly shallower tread, they conform to the rocks and ruts you are travelling over better IMO.

i went with the iroks because ive owned claws for most of the zooks life, then tsl,s (never anywhere near the actual sidewall size) and now 37" iroks.


these tyres are very close to the actual measurement on the sidewall.
good soft tread too. i put them on 8" rims so they have ballooned (sp) a bit.

hopefully ill drive on them soon.

it was a while ago now but petersens did a write up on the irocks, from memory they even did fairly well in the mud.

The lugs are not all that deep, they do however have very wide voids between them.

And Bentzook you're such a helpful individual.

the IROKs were doing quite well at the Bathurst WEROCK.....I don't think I would buy them, but peeps buy things coz they work, if there is lots of them around I would suggest they do a pretty good job.

i have mine too finally and they work really well...(stacked in the corner of my shed)

i think their is many different types of tyre suited to all types of driving...mine will be used on rocks mainly, we also just put a set of 36 Irocs on jasons gq shorty and they seem to be working pretty good so far...

for the price you pay they seem to be a pretty good all round tyre.. and of course for the best deals see Fourbys at Moorooka

I bought mine cause of all the positive feedback coming out of Pirate... The guys over there driving on rocks and all terrain type stuff were raving about them so that was all i needed. Bought them when they were still fairly new out here so paid more than most but very happy, can't wait to hit the rocks with them [ hopefully feb ]

Me too. As this was the first set of real tires i ever brought i could only go on what the sheep had to say

I compare them to a trials bike tire soft and grippy and being a soft tire they are less likely to shred. That is my Experience with soft tires! and as for tread depth i have heard that they get grippyer the more they wear just like trials tires.If they are to deep in the tread they are more likrly to roll off the lug(lose traction)

I’ve only done 200KMs on them but that has been only off road and in the Nissan trials comp i can no longer rely on wheel slip to tell me the limit, breakages do that now with all that grip.

They are a great tire BAAAA.

We were actually, early in 1991 there was only one importer in Oz at the time. Luxtons 4x4 in Victoria were the only company at the time importing Interco tyres. These were the first seen in NSW and since then other sheep followed, naturally they`re the best.
