Leaking input shaft on P/steer box GQ

Post by stewie81 »

Hey.
My Mav(GQ) have just started to leak from the input shaft on the steering box. Hense Power Steer fluid coming out like a Champ...

Has any one had this problem?
Can i just replace a seal? or is it time for second hand or Reco box?

Any one got a spare P/steer box? ( if needs replacing)...

Cheers

I dont think there is a seal right where the input shaft goes into the steering box. The part that the input shaft attaches to is called the 'worm and valve' assembly according to the manual. There are large teflon o-rings inside the valve assembly attached to the piston. If these orings leak, then oil would leak past the piston and out through the input shaft. If your confident, then you can remove the piston and replace the teflon seals......
