Thinking Of Buying a Disco

Post by bigsteve »

Hi All,

I have been looking at a few Discos lately and have a chance to pick up a 92 model 2 door Discovery v8.
Following Details:
160000km's
Front and Rear ARB Air Lockers
2.5 inch suspension lift
ARB Bull bar
Winch (Haven't checked the specs)
New Tyres (Cooper St, unsure of size)
Dual Batteries
Spotties
C/W 3 solar panels and 12v outlets in front and rear.

I know the current owner pretty well and I'd estimate it hasn't seen more than half a dozen offroad trips in the past 18 months.

Only probs with it that I know of are the aircon and a slight noise in the front diff. I will be giving it the full go-over tomorrow.

I am going to offer between 11 and 12K and it will be my wifes daily driver. I'd hope to use it for the od family 4x4 weekend away, my zook will still be reserved for hardcore stuff.

Any thoughs, comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

Cheers

Steve

Well I didn't end up buying it, clunky gear box and whine in the front diff, plus the current owner got an offer of 18k to trade it in on the new rangie so he is doing that.

Thanks

I had a similar "whine" in the front diff of my '95 Tdi Disco. 185,000 kms on the clock. Just cost me A$1600 for a new crown + pinion as well as spider gears....
